Yesterday the official presentation at Lisa''s Alm, the splendid hut located right on the Saslong where, for decades now, the classic male appointment of CdM has been staged. “The new logo shows how we are. The "G" represents the Saslong Classic Club, which has been organizing World Cup competitions for more than 50 years. We want to organize the candidacy and any World Cup together with the entire population of the valley. Our slogan does not change and remains "Passion & Performance", because it best represents the soul and know-how we are putting into this candidacy ", said Rainer Senoner, president of the Saslong Classic Club and driving force of the candidacy for the World Cup, which will be awarded in two years.
Nicol Delago, who on "his" Saslong climbed for the first time on a podium of the maximum circuit in 2018, and the new ski lever of Val Gardena, Max Perathoner, have unveiled the logo created by Michael Mussner. “For me, but also for the other South Tyrolean athletes and the rest of Italy, it would be a dream to be able to participate in the World Championships in Val Gardena. It would be an experience for all those who are enthusiastic about the mountains and winter sports and at the same time it would be a great opportunity for young athletes and young athletes, because it would be a great stimulus, ”said Delago.
Perathoner added: “Skiing at the World Championships in front of one's family, one's acquaintances and relatives would be something truly unique”. Not only active skiers have declared themselves in favor of world championships in the valley. A past champion like Isolde Kostner is also a supporter of the Saslong Classic Club. “As a former athlete my heart is always beating for skiing, for young athletes and for my hometown. Even as a tour operator, I couldn't imagine a better opportunity than the World Championships for Val Gardena. In my opinion, it would be unique from both points of view, ”said the winner of three Olympic medals.
With the support of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI), the Saslong Classic Club has at its side a strong and recognized institution, which will give impetus to the candidacy especially at an international level. The presentation of the logo was also attended by a member of the Federal Council, Stefano Longo. “Last year in Cortina we held the World Championships in difficult conditions. What must not happen in Italy is that 16 years pass again between one World Cup and the next. We must shorten the cycle, President Flavio Roda is also convinced of this. Val Gardena has been waiting for another edition of the World Championships since 1970. For years the three municipalities have benefited from the World Cup races organized by the Saslong Classic Club. The FISI could not imagine a better candidate for the 2029 World Cup. Full support of the federation is insured ”, underlined Longo.
Christoph Senoner, mayor of Santa Cristina Val Gardena, followed in his footsteps. “As a Municipality we immediately accepted, when we heard about this dream. We will strongly support the candidacy in any case. I was born in 1970, when the last World Championships took place in Val Gardena. Now, during my tenure, I'm happy to be able to work on possible World Championships in Val Gardena - it's a privilege, ”said Senoner. Tourism in Val Gardena also wants to actively join the process and support the candidacy. “We are very happy to have such a strong partner here in the valley, who lives, supports and organizes this project and who takes care of all this with great motivation. We would be very happy to be able to host the World Championships in the valley and to be able to spread the name Val Gardena around the world ”, underlined Ambros Hofer, president of Dolomites Val Gardena Marketing.
During the event, the economic partners of the candidacy were also presented. They are the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Municipalities of Val Gardena, Dolomites Val Gardena Marketing and the Val Gardena / Alpe di Siusi Ropeway Consortium, the companies Prinoth, Forst, Net Insurance, Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano, the umbrella brand Alto Adige. , Brennercom and Telepass.
