Thirty years for the Ski College Veneto Falcade: Saturday double event to celebrate a special birthday

The Ski College Veneto Falcade celebrates 30 years of life. The Falcade facility, dedicated to alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding student athletes, in fact started its activity in the 1990/1991 school year, the first reality of its kind in Italy. On Saturday, September 18, the “College” will celebrate its thirtieth birthday, with an intense day that will be divided into two parts, one in Agordo and one in Falcade. In Agordo, starting at 10.30, the Don Tamis Room will host a round table dedicated to “Ski College Veneto Falcade: 30 years of history projected towards the future”. "With this round table we want not only to retrace the history of the Ski College - in this regard I like to underline how the figure of the creator and first president, Graziano Pollazzon will be remembered - but, above all, to deepen the theme of the synergy between sport and study, to try to identify solutions that will allow them to face the challenges of the future and offer the younger generations solutions that are appropriate to their education and ambitions, both at school and in sports ”, explains the president of the Board of Directors, Luca Marchetto. “In addition, we want to try to reflect on how a structure like the Ski College can integrate itself more and more into the territory, becoming an active force for economy and events”. The round table will be attended by Michele Costa, mayor of Falcade and president of the Agordina Montana Union, Davide Piol, vice president of Confindustria Belluno Dolomiti, Claudio Dalla Palma, former official of the provincial school office, Fulvio Scola, head coach of the Italian men's national team cross-country skiers, Magda Genuin, cross-country ski Olympian, and Alberto Ghezze, manager of the sports area at the Cortina 2021 Alpine Ski World Championships and competition manager of the 2026 Olympics. In the afternoon, starting at 2.30 pm, the PalaFalcade will host the traditional presentation of the season, during which the programs, events and teams that will face the alpine skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing calendar will be illustrated. The Ski College Veneto Falcade is a reality that currently hosts about sixty student athletes engaged in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding, coming from different Italian regions. They are given the possibility, through an agreement with the Follador - De Rossi Institute, to choose between the technical and technological institute, the technical economic institute, the scientific high school, the scientific sports high school and the professional institute and to better harmonize the needs of the study. with the competitive ones. Over the years, the Ski College has been able to stand out in the merit rankings of the Italian companies of the FISI and bring some of its athletes to the top national and international. A few names: Pietro Piller Cottrer and Magda Genuin in cross-country skiing, Maurizio Bormolini in snowboarding, Pietro Canzio and Giovanni Franzoni in alpine skiing. Since 2016, following the modification of the regional regulations regarding the contribution and support of publicly-owned companies, the sporting activity is managed by the "Ski College Veneto - Falcade Società Cooperativa Sportiva Dilettantistica" composed mainly of parents with the objective to keep alive a unique reality in the Italian educational panorama. Since spring 2020, the FISI has recognized Falcade as one of the seven national structures that can be defined as Ski Colleges and that meet the criteria and standards published by the same federation.
