Tricolori Master in Santa Caterina Valfurva, from 4 to 6 February the races with the special story of Mario Sala

Cancro Primo Help will organize the Italian category championships on the "Deborah Compagnoni" and, as a forerunner of the giant, here is a man who is a symbol of resilience.

Santa Caterina Valfurva will host, on the weekend of 4-6 February, the three-day event that will assign the three-colored Masters of Alpine skiing for the 2021/22 season. Theater is the splendid Deborah Compagnoni track which has already seen many World Cup and European Cup races take place, with the continental circuit now making a fixed stop in Valtellina thanks to the enormous work of the Cancro Primo Help ONLUS association. Our colleague Lucia Galli told us a really beautiful story, the one starring 56-year-old Mario Sala, a sports goods dealer and a great fan of alpine skiing among the founders, over 20 years ago, of the local ski club Ski team Brianza. Three years ago, it was February 2019, just after a beautiful ski race on the Bobbio floors, which recalled the 60 years of the historic family shop, Sala realizes that he is not feeling well. Diagnosis: pancreatic cancer. His personal odyssey begins, between intervention, radio and chemo, which crosses, in a very hard slalom, even with Covid. Mario is fine now, but his luck was early diagnosis. This is why he decided to tell his story to bring his testimony and underline the value of prevention. As a symbol of his personal rebirth, he was chosen as a forerunner at the Italian Masters Championships; in particular, Sala will lead the way in the giant test on February 6. "There will be over 200 athletes from all over Italy - explains Maurizio Alessi, logistic manager of the FISI and collaborator of Cancro Primo Help - After some FIS and national competitions organized between November and January, we have intensified our collaboration which has led to the first partnership with Cancer. First Aid linked to the Italian Masters Championships ". Sala will not be alone: a forerunner like him among the large doors of the giant, towards this second stage of life, will also be one of the doctors who is treating him, Nicolò Pecorelli of the team of prof. Massimo Falconi, director of the Pancreas Translational & Clinical Research Center, of the University of Life and Health at the San Raffaele IRCCS hospital.
