A sad news, the one reported by "La Stampa" in today's edition, for all Italian skiing.
A heart attack took us away, at the age of 91, Davide David: a former blue specialist in speed, Italian downhill champion in 1953 and 1957, but above all the founder and true soul of the Gressoney Monte Rosa Ski Club.
David and his whole family had to live with the drama for the disappearance of his son Leonardo, considered the greatest talent of blue skiing in the post-Avalanche era. The wonderful Leo, who died on February 26, 1985 after a very long ordeal following that cursed fall in Lake Placid, on March 3, 1979, which forced him into a vegetative state for almost 6 years.
The mayor of Gressoney-La-Trinitè, Alessandro Girod, reported the disappearance and confirmed that, unfortunately, David's funeral will not be able to have public celebrations due to the restrictions related to the emergency situation for Coronavirus. The funeral will therefore take place privately. Thirty-five years later, Leo will wait for dad David in heaven.
