At Abetone the conclusion with the giants and three other blue victories: Team Italia A wins the Pinocchio d'Oro as the best nation ahead of Slovenia and Germany.

A record 40th edition, for a Pinocchio on skis who over the weekend gave a splendid two days of international finals at Abetone, with Italy as protagonist with six wins in eight races.
One of the most renowned youth alpine skiing events in the world, organized since the first edition by the Pinocchio Ski Club of Pescia, led by the President Franco Giachini, in collaboration with SAF - Società Abetone Funivie and the Municipality of Abetone Cutigliano, gave a '' 2022 edition started from the beginning of January in the best way, with abundant snowfall throughout Italy and a great desire to return to skiing after months of being away from the slopes: there were over 20 zonal selections that took place with more than 8000 participants in all Italy, from Trentino to Sicily. For the 2022 Super Finals, 1800 athletes arrived at Abetone, the qualifiers of the zonal selections and the athletes of the Children I and II categories of the 30 foreign delegations registered.
Yesterday the four giant competitions that closed the review, with the Children I (U14) category at the women's level that again awarded Giada D''Antonio, able to beat Slovenian Taja Presern by 28 cents, with Anna Trocker third for a double Italian podium. The seal of Mattia Valente also arrives in the same category, ahead of Mexican Lasse Gaxiola and Giulio Paolo Cazzaniga; U16 with the pearl of the Czech Leontyna Kondelkova, in front of the Slovenian Tija Radelj and the Piedmontese Lara Colturi, who cannot get an encore after the giant.
Finally, children II boys with Tomas De Ambrogio in front of everyone, starting with the Croatian Hrvoje Ljutic and the Slovenian Gal Hajdinjak.
At the end of the two days of international competition, Team Italia A won the Pinocchio d'Oro and the “Trofeo Giancarlo Guidi” as the best nation in 2022. Pinocchio d'Argento for Team Slovenia and Pinocchio di Bronzo for Team Germany. The "Evo Landini Trophy" as Best Male Athlete goes to the Slovenian Miha Oserban (2006), while this year there are two Best female athletes, both blue, with the "Vittorio Chierroni Trophy" ex aequo to Lara Colturi (2006) of the Golden Team Ceccarelli and Giada D''Antonio (2009) of the Vesuvio Ski Club.
Seven days of competition, but not only: solidarity was also talked about thanks to the collaboration with Dynamo Camp, Official Charity Partner of the event. On the occasion of the selection competitions and the very finals, from 2 to 4 euros were collected for each registration in order to support the non-profit organization that offers free Recreational Therapy programs to children and teenagers with serious diseases at Dynamo Camp in Limestre (PT) and in other dedicated locations. Alongside Pinocchio on skis there are many other illustrious realities: the top sponsors Enel, Zentiva, Calvé, Cucciolone, Ariete and Nescafé, the official sponsors Rossignol, San Benedetto AquaVitamin, Podhio-PDH and the technical partner Liski, protagonists together with the inevitable wooden puppet from the Village of Pinocchio 2022, arrived in Abetone after stopping in Prato Nevoso, Moena, Sappada, San Vito di Cadore, Cerreto Laghi, Bardonecchia, Passo del Tonale and Roccaraso. "After two very difficult years, the event was finally able to take place in all its grandeur - the satisfied words of President Giachini - Although in full compliance with current regulations, we are back to enjoying Pinocchio almost as before the pandemic, and this is also testified by the high number of foreign delegations that joined the international stage.
As many as 30, important numbers, almost at pre-covid levels. Special thanks go to all the partners of the 2022 edition, but also to the Tuscany Region, FIS, FISI, CONI, the Carlo Collodi National Foundation and the Municipality of Abetone Cutigliano. A huge thanks goes to SAF - Società Abetone Funivie for the splendid management of the slopes in all weather conditions. I thank the athletes, the committees, the ski clubs and the organizers of the national selections. Finally, a heartfelt thanks goes to the volunteers who every year provide their precious contribution because - concludes Giachini - as Collodi himself wrote, "you know: in this world we must all help each other".
