Last night in Vienna the prize for the two world champion of Cortina, while the Austrian federation seems to have finally found stability after the resignation of Karl Schmidhofer.

An award that Marcel Hirscher won six times (of which five consecutive until the year of retirement, in 2019), and now ends up in the hands of the one who brought back to Austria a World Cup in fast disciplines, that of super -g, but who above all put Cortina's two world titles on the bulletin board in a magical 2021 for him. Vincent Kriechmayr won, as expected, the recognition of Austrian sportsman of the year, awarded last night in Vienna together with the cyclist Anna Kiesenhofer, who at the Tokyo Games won a resounding Olympic gold in the road test. In Austria, however, there were also hours of appointments at the OESV presidency level, after the troubled period relating to the succession of the very long era of Peter Schroecksnadel, with the resignation of Karl Schmidhofer due to a serious family situation. At the last presidential conference, the leaders of the Austrian Association unanimously decided to rely on a new management team. Roswitha Stadlober will chair the OESV, with Patrick Ortlieb at her side: the former descent world champion will assume the role of CEO of all the companies, acting as financial advisor together with the general secretary Christian Scherer, who will continue to lead the operating area. All ratified by today's extraordinary national conference, for a mandate that will expire in the summer of 2024.
