The eighth round of the World Championships in St. Moritz will be the women's Giant Slalom.

GIANT WOMEN IN SEASON IN PROGRESS
In the current season they were played 7 female Giants; the queen is Tessa Worley, who won 3 times (Killington, Sestriere and Maribor) and came second three times (two of the Semmering Kronplatz). Mikaela Shiffrin has instead got 2 hits (two of Semmering) and another podium (second in Sölden), Lara Gut has imposed 1 time (Sölden) and was 2 times third (Sestriere and Maribor), while Federica Brignone triumphed in Kronplatz.
They got even podiums nina løseth (second in Killington), Viktoria Rebensburg (third in the second Semmering) and the blue sofia goggia (third and second in Killington is in Sestriere that in Maribor), Marta Bassino (third in Sölden and Kronplatz) and Manuela Mölgg (third in the first Semmering).
In the specialty ranking commands Worley with 580 points against the 460 of Shiffrin and 360 of Gut. The Italian, who said as they got at least a podium apiece, occupy the fourth (Goggia), fifth (Bassino), sixth (Brignone) and eighth (Mölgg) position: all have chances to medal.
In summary, these are the podiums of 7 Giants played the World Cup season.
GIANT WOMEN ST. MORITZ
St. Moritz is a town in the canton of Grisons, famous, luxury travel destination for both winter and summer, as well as the historic town as far as downhill skiing. In fact, it has already hosted three editions of the World Championships (1934, 1974 and 2003), one of the Olympic Games (1948) and the various stages of the World Cup; particularly since 1999 is pretty much regular event for the women's circuit.
In all, seven editions of the female Giant St. Moritz, 5 World Cup and 2 respectively valid for the World Cup in 1974 and 2003. They are two girls who lead the ranking of plurivincitrici at 2: the first is Tina Maze, who won the editions of 22 December 2004 and 9 December 2012; the second is Tessa Worley, one of the big favorites for the gold, winning 12 December 2010 and 15 December 2013. The only other active athlete to be able to prevail in a Giant competed in St. Moritz is Viktoria Rebensburg, before March 20, 2016 in the final race of last season. Deserve mention the world titles won by Fabienne Serrat in 1974 and Anja Pärson in 2003.
As for podiums, Maze is at an altitude of 4 leaders, having also got 2 third places. A third place also for Worley and a second for both Pärson that for Rebensburg; no other girl has managed to rise to more than once on the podium in a giant played in St. Moritz. Italy boasts one top three in this race, about Denise Karbon who came second, winning the silver in the race that gave medals February 12, 2003.

GIANT WOMEN'S WORLD CUP
The Giant Slalom has entered the global agenda in the Second World War. The first edition was in fact took place in Aspen in 1950; since then they have carried out 33, with four champions who have been able to win 2 times the gold medal: Marielle Goitschel succeeded in Innsbruck in 1964 (it should be remembered that until 1980 the Olympics had valence of the World) and Portillo 1966 Vreni Schneider in Crans Montana in 1987 and Vail 1989 Deborah Compagnoni in the Sierra Nevada in 1996 and Sestriere in 1997, and Anja Pärson in St. Moritz 2003 and St. Catherine in 2005.
The individual medal is controlled precisely by Pärson, as capable of also winning a bronze edition of St.Anton 2001. The only other girl who won 3 medals overall is Tina Maze, gold in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2011 and silver in Val d'Isere 2009 and 2013 Schladming.
Italy won 7 total medals in the World Cup giant. In addition to the two golds Compagnoni, arrived three silvers (Karen Putzer in St. Anton in 2001, Denise Karbon in St. Moritz 2003 and Federica Brignone in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2011) and two bronzes (Giuliana Chenal Minuzzo in Squaw Valley in 1960 and Denise Karbon Ã…re 2007).
The world champion in office Veith Anna Fenninger, who in Beaver Creek in 2015 was imposed ahead of Viktoria Rebensburg and Jessica Lindell-Vikarby.
