VIDEO - Piero Gros: "FIS should follow biathlon and introduce waste in the World Cup like in my time"

In a long interview with Dario Puppo, Piero Gros retraced his career by talking about rivalry with team-mate Gustav Thoeni in the 1974 World Cup race, covering a range of current issues where he suggested some changes to the regulations to the FIS.

Following the example of the biathlon where this season we witnessed until the end a splendid duel for the general classification between the blue Dorothea Wierer and Lisa Vittozzi, the Olympic champion of Sapporo 1972 would also suggest the International Ski Federation to introduce waste to determine the absolute winner. A system that according to Gros would make individual races much more compelling, since all the athletes would give 100% in each appointment, and then there would be shorter and more balanced rankings leveling the gap between the number of races in the individual specialties. An introduction that according to the Piedmontese champion would guarantee much more show than the last experimented formats, city event and parallel giant in the first place, and that in the past has already had great success in the world of alpine skiing, just remember what happened in his time, those of the Blue Avalanche. Gros then recounted the atmosphere that was breathed within the blue team of the '70s, where in addition to the many training sessions there was time for fun.
