A podium in the night of Madonna di Campiglio, the fourth place in the Cortina World Championship and two other placings at the foot of the podium, between the seasonal debut in Alta Badia (with the best time in the 1st heat) and the last race , at the Lenzerheide finals.
Alex Vinatzer is now the reference of the blue slalom and is aware that he is also ready for the first success in the World Cup, with the great goal of the Beijing Olympics on the horizon. “I can't be happy with January's performances, God forbid, for the rest I got good results and I can say that I have learned more this season than in the previous two or three. What happened in the period of the classics? I can't say but ... I understand a lot ”.
The 21 year old from Val Gardena worked a lot on the giant, even in the three-day session at the Zoncolan. “Salt training is important to me, it is my weak point and I was able to try different skis and boots, as well as modify my skiing. Yes, I want to do double discipline and have been delayed with the giant for a variety of reasons, such as the appendicitis I had earlier last season.
This spring I have dedicated myself more to wide gates than to slalom, it is nice to confront the gigantists and the goal is to emerge in this specialty. Now vacation for 10 days in Tenerife, then a few rides in a camper and from May it will be a tirade until September, hoping to be able to go to Ushuaia for the autumn job ”.
