Nordic combined: still a great Riiber in Ramsau, Costa good 24th

Seventh race of the World Cup of the season and sixth victory for the Norwegian phenomenon who rises to 42 career victories, -1 from Eric Frenzel, which he could already reach in tomorrow's encore. Place of honor in comeback for Vinzenz Geiger, third the Finnish Ilkka Herola. Among the Azzurri, Samuel Costa and Raffaele Buzzi win points.

As in the second race of Otepää, Riiber closed the practice already after the jumping segment, won by a large margin, almost 50 ”over Julian Schmid and Simen Tiller, with Portyk, Y. Watabe and Weber immediately following. A large gap built thanks to a stratospheric measure: 102 m, four beyond the HS point, five more than the best of the opponents. In the end, the script was predictable: triumphal ride towards the sixth seasonal success, the fifth in a row. The roadmap speaks of an unbeaten run, net of disqualifications, which has lasted since the World Championships in Oberstdorf last year, and 42 career victories. Tomorrow the appointment with history, to reach a living legend of the discipline: Eric Frenzel. Behind him the battle for the podium was won by Vinzenz Geiger. The German, 16th in the middle of the race, climbed back to the place of honor, breaking off his fellow adventurers along the way in the last stretch. Third place for the Finnish Ilkka Herola, on the first podium of the season, which he beat Johannes Lamparter at the photofinish. Both of them made a comeback after a difficult jumping test, with the Austrian rather unfortunate with the weather conditions. Fifth was the German Weber who preceded Espen Bjoernstad and Akito Watabe, who crashed in the final descent when he was fighting for something important. On the other hand, Julian Schmid slipped into 8th position ahead of Mario Seidl 9th and the Norwegians Graabak 10th, Jens Luraas Oftebro 11th and Espen Andersen 12th. Good performance in Italy for Samuel Costa 24th and Raffaele Buzzi 27th. Both made up some positions in the back but built the result on the springboard, where they performed well.
