The causes of the death, which took place on Tuesday 5 May, have yet to be clarified. The news was released today by the OESV.

Nordic combined Austria mourns a young promise of the movement. Johanna Bassani, born in 2002 and raised in the UVB of Hinzenbach, was found dead three days ago.
"With great dismay and deep sadness, we take note of the news of the death of a young sportswoman, belonging to our Nordic combined team (she had been included in team B for the 2020/21 season) and one of the great talents of this discipline ”, the Austrian federation announced.
Johanna Bassani, born in 2002 (she had just turned 18 on April 25th), had also been a protagonist in the 2019/20 season between the Alpen Cup and the Continental Cup, as well as at the Lausanne Youth Winter Olympic Games and the junior World Championships in Oberwiesenthal.
