The 32 year old Gardena says goodbye after over 13 years in the World Cup and that 7th place in Sochi. He participated in three Olympics: "The end of a beautiful trip".

Lukas Runggaldier has decided to say enough. The Italian Nordic combined loses its long-standing veteran, who today announced his retirement from competition.
Born in 1987, the Santa Cristina native lived a satisfying career, with the beauty of three Olympic appearances, from Vancouver 2010 to PyeongChang 2018, and that 7th place in the Sochi 2014 small trampoline race, when his partner from team and friend Alessandro Pittin stroked the second medal at the Games (the Friulian was 4th on that day). Just together with Pittin, he achieved his only podium in the World Cup, with 2nd place in the Seefeld sprint team in 2011. "It is the end of a great journey - wrote Runggaldier on social media - Thanks to all my teammates, to coaches, military, sponsors, ski clubs, family, friends and to the Yellow Flames for support and cheering. "
