The Finnish Nordic Ski Federation announced the composition of the national teams for the season 2017 - '18. In the Nordic Combined, he opted to reduce numbers and prioritize quality.

Team A drops from 8 to 6 items. The only draw on the past season is that of Hannu Manninen, returning to full-fledged business. The veteran takes the place of Jussi Salo, excluding the national cadres. Also missing are Jim Härtull and Mikke Leinonen, who have decided to close their career.
With regard to the lower levels, it was decided to re-create a group of three athletes who will act as a real team B, called "Challenger Group", adding Antte Korhonen (just out of the junior category) to which they were joined The two most promising young people (it is even two class 2000). There are 8 juniors instead.
Unchanged the technical staff. The movement will continue to be led by Petter Kukkonen, while the junior will be followed by Antti Kuisma.
Regarding the choices made, Kukkonen stated that: "National teams have been slightly reduced in order to prepare themselves better and to work more on quality. It is clear that we must grow above all in the jump, where we will try to identify a key technique. As for the bottom, the goal is to improve the pace of change, ie the ability to detach opponents on the track. "
