The Swiss Federal Court writes the word END on the events related to the revelations of Grigory Rodchenkov about the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Russian cross-countryist Alexander Legkov received confirmation from Switzerland yesterday that he could continue to boast the gold medal won in the 50 km Olympic five years ago. Now retired, Legkov is one of 28 Russian athletes disqualified by the IOC Oswald Commission who had examined and collected further evidence based on the long Rodchenkov memorial that the Lausanne Appeals Court had rehabilitated last spring.
The disqualifications originally imposed consisted of the exclusion from all the upcoming editions of the Olympic Games and the cancellation of the results obtained at the Sochi Olympics. In the examination of the appeal, the TAS of Lausanne canceled these measures as justified by clues, such as the signs on the tubes and the presence in the Duchess list, not sufficient to provide clear evidence of the involvement of the athlete .. It was not considered, in fact, enough to have demonstrated the existence of a systematic exchange program for urine tubes for doping controls to determine a criminal action by athletes on the basis of a purely indicative procedure. Only the IOC's decision to allow the athletes involved to participate in the PyeongChang Olympics remained.
On February 1, 2018, Lausanne's TAS returned to 28 athletes the results obtained in Sochi and canceled the ban on participating in any future edition of the Games: among them over Alexander Legkov, Gold in the 50 km and Silver in the Cross Country Skiing , Aleksandr Tretiakov Gold in the Skeleton.
Against the decisions of the TAS it is only possible to resort, due to procedural defects, to the Swiss Federal Court and it is what the IOC has done for a sample case, the first for which the TAS made public the reasons for detail: that of Legkov. Yesterday, the Swiss Court rejected the appeal and found no formal defect.
The spokesmen of the IOC, while expressing their disappointment, have announced that in the light of these conclusions the appeals will not be presented in the other cases.
