The Forni Avoltri Italian Cross-Country Ski and Roller Ski Championships are closed with two big surprises. Under a real storm the two Trentino athletes got the better of the big favorites on the eve.

In the 10 km senior female Francesca Franchi surprised all of them by winning in one fell swoop Italian senior title and Under23 national title. The rider from the Fiamme Gialle Sports Group preceded the team-mate Lucia Scardoni, 14 seconds off the summit, and the 'Anna Comarella (GS Fiamme Oro) who grabbed the podium by mocking Ilaria Debertolis (GS Fiamme Oro) and Caterina Ganz (GS Fiamme Gialle). The Venetian has also conquered the second place in the ranking reserved for the Under 23, a category in which Martina Bellini (CS Esercito) has risen on the third step of the podium.
The 15 km male would have expected an encore from Francesco De Fabiani after the victory in yesterday's sprint. Instead the Italian title went to the rider of the Fiamme Gialle Sport Group Giandomenico Salvadori. The Trentino won the victory with a margin of 28 seconds on the carabiniere Stefano Gardener (GS Carabinieri), while the South Tyrolean Dietmar Nöckler (GS Fiamme Oro) finished on the third step of the podium. Fourth position, 52 seconds from the top, for an unlucky Francesco De Fabiani (CS Esercito) penalized by a double breaking of the stick that prevented him from winning the third consecutive distance Italian title. Among the Under 23 great performance for the fornese Martin Coradazzi fifth overall and first in the category. The bearer of the Army Sports Center preceded Stefano Dellagiacoma (GS Carabinieri) and Simone Daprà (GS Fiamme Oro) in the special classification.
Among the double success F-20s under the FISI Friuli Venezia-Giulia. In the men's field, Davide Graz (GS Fiamme Gialle) established himself with a wide margin, closing the Alpe Adria Summer Nordic Festival of Forni Avoltri with two Italian titles. The talented sappadino athlete has trimmed a minute to Michele Gasperi (CS Esercito), third position for the Trentino Alessandro Chiocchetti. Among the juniores clear victory for Martina Di Centa (CS Carabinieri). The daughter of the 2006 Turin Olympic champion cut Emilie Jeantet by 31 seconds and the winner of yesterday's sprint Nicole Monsorno by 48 seconds.
The races that awarded the national title in the Under 18 category were much more tightly contested. In the men a quartet finished within a matter of seconds, with Elia Barp winning over Simone Mastrobattista (second), Benjamin Schwingshackl (third) and Samuele Giraudo (fourth). Even more pulled the female test, where in the whole Valtellina duel Veronica Silverstri preceded by just a tenth of a second Francesca Cola. Third and last step of the podium for Maria Gismondi, 3 seconds from the top.
Finally, during the awards ceremony coaches, technicians and judges spent words of praise for ASD Monte Coglians and Sci Cai Trieste for the excellent organization of the event, and also for the renewed asphalt of the Carnic center that allowed the over 235 athletes to compete in excellent safety despite the pouring rain.
