The Nordic disciplines World Cup is ready to go live, but the shadow of Covid-19 falls on the Finnish races

After the opening of the Jumping World Cup in Wisla has been filed without any particular hitch, the season of the Nordic disciplines is getting ready to go live next weekend in Ruka, where eleven competitions between men's jumping, cross-country skiing and Nordic combined are scheduled and in Kontiolahti, where the biathlon world cup will open.

If on the one hand Ruka promises to be finally winter, with temperatures well below freezing, on the other the pandemic situation is worrying. Today's news is in fact the positive covid-19 of two Austrian jumpers: Gregor Schlierenzauer and Philipp Aschenwald, as well as head coach Andreas Widhölzl and another member of the technical staff. The whole World Cup team has been quarantined, it did not leave for Ruka and will therefore not compete in the two competitions in Finland, where team B will be fielded instead. At the same time from Kontiolahti (Fin), where the Biathlon World Cup will start on Saturday, came the announcement of the positivity of three members of the teams from Russia, Moldova and Latvia following the swabs carried out by IBU. Pending action by the Finnish authorities, the positive subjects were placed in solitary confinement.
