In the 15 km alternate are the Finnish Ilvo Niskanen and the Russian Alexander Bolshunov to take the 'task of pulling the neck to the group that meter by meter, lap after lap loses the pieces in a selection dictated solely by the rhythm. In the middle of the race, at the change of materials, there are seven in the group of the best: in addition to the Finnish and Russian, the Norwegians Sjur Roethe and Martin Johnsrud Sundby, the French Parisse, the British Musgrave, the Kazakh Poltoranin. With Evgeniy Belov at about ten seconds, the group of pursuers with Giandomenico Salvadori and Johannes Klaebo is about twenty seconds behind Sergey Ustiugov at 35.6.
The first to give in the skating rounds is Poltoranin while a first attempt by Sjur Roethe to make further selection fails with Bolshunov who reacts well in the technique less congenial to him and starts to dictate the pace even in free technique breaking the delays in the sixth lap . The British Musgrave will pay the price and there will be five of the medals.
Everything is decided on the climb of the last lap: attacks Sundby. only Roethe and Bolshunov resist him and on the final straight Roethe skips the compatriot and resists Bolshunov's imperious return. For Roethe it is the first individual world title after the 'Oro in Relay of 2013; Bolshunov, Argento, climbs for the first time on the world championship podium while the victorious world champion and Olympic vice-champion in charge in the format, Martin Sundby is a Bronze medalist. An indomitable Iivo Niskanen is fourth at 12.3, fifth the surprising Clemen Parisse, sixth Alex Harvey that precedes Musgrave, the French Backscheider, Sergey Ustiugov and the Swedish Jens Burman.
A good Giandomenico Salvadori is sixteenth to 2.18.8 while the Norwegian duo for Team Sprint tomorrow Klaebo - Iversen springs the moorings halfway through the race and closes around the thirtieth position at over four minutes. Stefano Gardener is thirty-sixth, Simone Daprà is thirty-seventh.
