The first countries to have issued their own squad of special jumping and Nordic combined, for the world championship event in Lahti, were those of the American continent, then Canada and the United States. For both nations in question there have been discussed options related to the special pink jump field.

"Because of the sexist criteria of the USSA (United States Ski and Snowboard Association) I have not been selected in the team for the upcoming World Championships in Lahti. Both North American nations will be participating in the Mixed jumping competition: the United States will start on a par with Italy, then the goal will be to move smoothly into the cut of the first set, while for Canada will be to save face, purpose common in the men's team event on the large hill.
