Summer Grand Prix: Samuel Costa second in Montafon. Vince Riessle

Another podium for Samuel Costa, who is now third in the Grand Prix ranking which sees the Austrian Franz-Josef Rehrl, followed by Akito Watabe, in command.

The Italian closed the jump segment, won by the Norwegian Harald Johnas Riiber in front of Rehrl, in eighth place with a 10 km start on the roller skis at 51 seconds from the leader. Riiber was able to keep his head on the first lap of the route (1.6 kilometers) to be resumed before the second pass on the finish line by Franz-Josef Rehrl and the French Laurent Muhlethaler. The leading trio did not impose a sufficient rhythm to avoid the return of the pursuers to the point that in the last round 11 athletes competed for the victory. The winner was the German Riessle who managed to break away in the final while the group sprint for second place saw Samuel Costa prevail in front of the French Antoine Gerard, winner on Sunday in Oberhof. Nice comeback also for Alessandro Pittin, twelfth at 1''04 "3 with a positive balance of ten positions, while Lukas Runggaldier finished eighteenth at 1''07" 7 and Raffaele Buzzi twenty-second at 1''30 "2 with a recovery of six positions, thanks to the fifth time on roller skis. The general classification of the Summer Grand Prix sees the German Rehrl (ninth on the occasion) lead with 335 points, followed by Akito Watabe (absent in Austria) with 278 points and the same Costa with 240 points. The next two events that will close the Grand Prix are expected at Planica over the weekend.
