Valnes-Skar and Nilsson-Dahlqvist win the Dresden Sprint Team

Black weekend for Federico Pellegrino who after yesterday's disqualification falls in the final stages of the decisive act to which he qualified in pairs with Dietmar Noeckler.

The long Dresden Elbe that last year had given the double victory to Federico Pellegrino in the Sprint and Team Sprint with Didi Noeckler, has turned into this season in a nightmare stage for the Aosta Valley cross-country skipper. After yesterday's disqualification, the Italian couple reached the final in the free technique Sprint with a third place and repechage as the best time among the six lucky loser who pass the round in the second final that sees the Swiss Schaad and Hediger in front of the Russians Maltsev and Retivykh. More than on other occasions the Dresden track is treacherous with very wet snow that makes, if possible, even more complex overtaking operations, as was already clearly seen in yesterday's individual test with the aggravating circumstance that in the pairs race they are 10 cross-country skiers to face each other. In the final all goes according to a script between some sportellato and some fall and Dietmar Noeckler manages to give the baton to Federico Pellegrino according to the plans of the race at the head of the group. The 'blue dictates the pace for a long time but when he tries to catch his breath, once again he has to face the curve downhill to the right that in these two days has often caused problems and finds himself having to climb many opponents in what is the final lap. The traffic is a lot, Pellegrino finds himself on the extreme left and at the edge of the slope the change of stick of Jouve certainly hinders him. At the entrance on the final straight around the fifth position, he finally unbalances and falls. For Italy 1 comes the tenth place finish, while the two Norwegian couples play for the win: they impose Erik Valnes and Sindre Skar, who already went on the podium yesterday, preceding Norway II composed by Paal Golberg and Erik Brandsdal. Third step of the podium for the Russians Maltsev and Retivykh. It stopped in the semifinals, but the other Italian team composed by Enrico Nizzi and Stefan Zelger who had closed their drums eighth. In the women's field the Swedish triumph is completed: after the hat-trick of yesterday, today the team of the three crowns occupies the first two steps of the podium. The victory goes to Stina Nilsson and Maja Dahlqvist who precede Ida Ingemarsdotter and Jonna Sundling. On the third step of the podium, the pair formed by the Norwegian Mari Eide and Maiken Caspersen Falla who won the first podium of the season in the World Cup. Italy stops in the semi-finals. Greta Laurent and Lucia Scardoni were engaged in the second battery and finished in seventh place.
