The Italian jump greets Elena Runggaldier. The decision to withdraw from the '90 class of Santa Cristina, thanks to the Fiamme Gialle and raised in the Sci Club Gardena, is official; after the three medals won in the junior World Championships, in 2011 she became the first Italian, considering the women's and men's sector, to get on a world champion podium at senior level.
The magic day arrived in Oslo in 2011, with that 2nd place that seemed to be able to launch her towards a high level career; at the podium level, only one came in the 2012 Lillehammer mixed team competition, with third place in the national team. “It is a decision born from the fact that I lack the determination of the past, I want other things - says Elena herself through the FISI press office - I think I have achieved my best, in September I will marry Francois Braud (ex French international combo player who retired a year ago).
I leave in the hands of a group of promising girls, the Malsiner sisters will be able to assert themselves: Manuela has returned from an injury and needed to regain her feeling, Lara and Jessica have first-rate technical skills. The race that I will remember with greater pleasure is undoubtedly that of the silver world championship in Oslo, the one that left my bitterness in the Lahti World Cup in 2015. I was ninth after the first jump and instead in the second I all wrong. I thank the Federation that believed in women's jumping even when it was not included in the Olympic program, the Yellow Flame Skiers Group, all our sponsors, my family, my teammates and the coaches who have followed me over the years, including Romed Moroder who convinced me many years ago to get involved ”.
