The 2021/22 Women's Jumping World Cup opened in Russia over the weekend. Two individual races were staged on Nizhny Tagil's Normal Hill, which saw first the young Austrian and then the Slovenian, who is the leader of the general classification, triumphing.

After winning Thursday's qualification, Marita Kramer put on a show in Race 1, beating the competition. The Austrian killed the race already in the first series, when she set the new springboard record, landing at 104.5m, a good 7.5m beyond the HS point. He then also won the second series, inflicting an abysmal gap, over 40 points, to the Slovenian Ema Klinec, with the veteran Daniela Iraschko-Stolz in third place.
In Race 2 it was Klinec herself who conquered the top step of the podium. The Slovenian has in fact obtained her first career victory in the World Cup, winning both series and closing with 8 points of margin over her compatriot Ursa Bogataj and almost ten over the German Katharina Althaus. She had to settle for the fourth Marita Kramer coin, which was delayed halfway through the race.
Nika Kriznar, winner of the last World Cup, who finished 7th and 8th, and Sara Takanashi 5th in Race 1 and 6th in Race 2 collected less than expected. A trip between light and shadow for the blue, with Lara Malsiner who he finished 22nd on Friday but disappointed on Saturday, finishing 40th. On the other hand, the younger sister Jessica did not pass the two qualifications.

With two of the twenty-six races scheduled to go to the archive, Ema Klinec leads the overall standings of the World Cup with 180 points, 30 more than Marita Kramer. They are chasing Ursa Bogataj, third at an altitude of 130, and Katharina Althaus, who collected 105 points. Next weekend the World Cup will move to Norway, Lillehammer, where two individual races are scheduled, one on Normal Hill and the other on Large Hill.
