Dawid Kubacki defeats Kobayashi in a star duel and signs the brace in Titisee-Neustadt

This weekend the men's ski jumping World Cup made a stop in Germany, in Titisee-Neustadt. Two individual races were held on one of the most extreme large trampolines of the circuit, which saw the winner of the last Tour excel.

Dawid Kubacki, back from two third places in Val di Fiemme, dominated Race 1, recording the best score in both series. With two jumps that landed just before the HS point, the Pole inflicted 6.4 points behind Stefan Kraft, in third consecutive honor, and fifth in the season. The Salzburger, fifth at the end of the first series, reassembled with a jump of 140.5 m, climbing over Ryoyu Kobayashi (3rd) by only 9 tenths. Best race of the season for Johann Andre Forfang, able to find technical stability on the two jumps and to finish 4th in front of the Germans Stephan Leyhe and Constantin Schmid. The top 10 closed Daniel Andre Tande 7th, Kamil Stoch 8th, Piotr Zyla 9th and Timi Zajc 10th. Only 12th the leader of General Karl Geiger, also in difficulty in training and qualifying jumps, as well as Marius Lindvik 17th. In Race 2 the show was not lacking and a stellar duel between Kubacki and Kobayashi was staged. Both in the first series broke through 150 points with two jumps to the limits of perfection. The first landed at 143 m, the second, with more favorable wind, at 147 m, 5 over the HS point. In the second act the Japanese tried to reassemble the 3.3 points that separated him from the leader but stopped 3 tenths from the victory. Thus came Kubacki's fourth career success in the World Cup, the third in 2020. In third place, detached by almost twelve lengths, the young Slovenian Timi Zajc came in, rising in the second series from seventh position. Instead the Germans Stephan Leyhe 4th and Karl Geiger 5th finished at the foot of the podium. The general leader preceded Anze Lanisek 6th, Yukiya Sato 7th, Piotr Zyla 8th, Constantin Schmid 9th and Marius Lindvik 10th. He finished 11th instead and lost important points in the race to the crystal ball Stefan Kraft, very unfortunate with the wind. At the halfway point of the World Cup Karl Geiger leads the general classification 886 points, ahead of Stefan Kraft (-83), Ryoyu Kobayashi (-91) and Dawid Kubacki (-122). Next weekend the athletes will be busy in Zakopane, where a Team Event and an individual test are scheduled.
