Ski jumping: Ryoyu Kobayashi shows off in Ruka's qualification, Granerud sensationally eliminated

Qualification for tomorrow’s race, which opened the second round of the World Cup in Ruka (Finland), saw Ryoyu Kobayashi as the absolute protagonist, who clearly won the series ahead of the Austrian Daniel Huber and the German Pius Paschke. False step for Halvor Egner Granerud, good performance instead for Giovanni Bresadola who passed the cut.

Great leap for the Japanese champion who returns to fly and put on a show. Despite some inaccuracies in the take-off phase but with an exceptional flight, Kobayashi pushed himself to 147 m, half a meter from the springboard record, winning qualification for tomorrow's race with a large margin against the competition. Excellent performance also for Daniel Huber, second at 8.6 points from the leader with a jump of 141.5 m. The Austrian led Pius Paschke by five points, with Nakamura and Kraft just behind. The excellent condition of the Japanese is therefore confirmed, already a protagonist last weekend in Nizhny Tagil. The German Geiger, leader of the general classification of the World Cup, finished 6th, ahead of Jan Hoerl and Markus Eisenbichler. As happened in both qualifiers last week there were sensational eliminations. If in Russia they drew a "zero" in the Kraft and Kobayashi rankings, this time it was Granerud's turn to pay the duty. The Norwegian has in fact punctured his jump, closing only 53 °, highlighting technical instability. Problem that will have to be solved in the short term in order to fight for the crystal ball. Giovanni Bresadola performed well among the Azzurri who overcame the cut by closing 47th, while Alex Insam was eliminated 60th.
