And a total triumph has arrived for Japan, in the Summer Grand Prix team event, which was staged in Zakopane in the fourth weekend of races for the male sector.
The quartet formed by Junshiro Kobayashi, Nakamura, Keiichi and Yukiya Sato, has bent the highly favored Poland (winner in the opening of Wisla) with a gap of 10.8 points, with Zyla, Stoch, Wolny and Kubacki always running from the start first jump. Third place for Norway of Forfang, Granerud, Markeng and Lindvik, more than 30 points apart, then a Germany under standard and fourth, but far from the podium despite an excellent Karl Geiger, with Slovenia of Bartol and Zajc, leader of Summer Individual Grand Prix, fifth ahead of Austria.
For Japan it is a historic victory today, as the Japanese have not won a team event in the summer festival for 20 years, when they imposed themselves in Hakuba in 1999.
Sunday the grand finale in Zakopane, with the fourth individual race of the season scheduled at 1 pm: in addition to the Zajc-Geiger challenge for the yellow bib and the wait for the many big guys who are back in the race, there will also be a small space for Italy with Alex Insam in the race, while Federico Cecon did not pass the cut in qualifying staged Friday night.
WOMEN IN FRENSTAT
The women's Summer Grand Prix will close tomorrow with the third and final race in Frenstat, in the Czech Republic, scheduled for 10.30 am.
But it will be a minor event, given that Sara Takanashi (winner of Hinterzarten and Courchevel) is not present but, due to the absence of the Norwegian Maren Lundby (the 'only one who could still have joined her), has officially won her eighth consecutive trophy for the summer races, or the Japanese has always won by the introduction of the women's plastic circuit.
The qualification staged today has seen the Malsiner sisters offer good levels (Elena Runggaldier is absent), with Lara tenth and Manuela 25th.
