It is the hostess Poland that rejoices, once again, in the opening of the Summer Grand Prix 2021.
In Wisla it is the man you don't expect, Jakub Wolny, to break free with the first podium in the summer circuit, recovering the Austrian Jan Hoerl who, after placing the best score in the first series, finishes behind by only 4 tenths , with the local triumph completed by Dawid Kubacki, third 3.5 points behind his compatriot.
Markus Eisenbichler drops from the podium after finishing in 2nd place in the middle of the race, with the German fifth ahead of Karl Geiger and behind the second Austrian of the day, an excellent Markus Schiffner who finishes fourth.
A Poland that can celebrate despite the absence of the great favorite and dominator of Friday's qualification, Kamil Stoch, who gave up the race after suffering a resentment on his ankle operated a few weeks ago. Nothing too serious, but the Zakopane champion preferred not to take risks at this stage of the season.
The first of the two women's tests saw Ursa Bogataj prevail, with the Slovenian able to resist the comeback of Sara Takanashi, second with 2.3 points of detachment; in third place again Japan with Nozomi Maruyama, in front of many big names with Pinkelnig, Klinec, Ito, Kriznar and Kramer placed respectively from 4th to 8th place.
Lara Malsiner, the only blue in the race with her sister Jessica who did not pass the qualifying cut of the previous day, finished in 21st place. The young girl from Val Gardena will try to do better today, in the second appointment scheduled at 13.00. The men, however, will be in the race from 5.35pm
