Coinciding with the arrival of winter, this weekend in Wisła (Pol) opened the Men's World Ski Jump Cup.

In the first series of the individual competition held on Sunday afternoon, two athletes managed to make the difference compared to all the others: Evgeniy Klimov and Kamil Stoch, respectively first and second and spaced only two lengths apart. Behind them there was a great balance, since the distance between the third and the 22nd was only about ten points. The third best score was recorded by Ryoyu Kobayashi, author of the clearly longer jump of the race (137.5 m), but dirty during landing, during which he touched the ground with his hand.
Many top athletes did not pass the cut, thus missing the points area, among them Michael Hayböck 32nd, Andreas Stjernen 35th, Daniel Andre Tande 36th, Simon Ammann 46th and Gregor Schlierenzauer 48th. On the other hand, the Slovenian Damjan, Noriaki Kasai and the blue Sebastian Colloredo did not qualify on Friday.
Both the fight for the victory and that for the podium were then resolved in the second series, during which the race direction raised the starting pole, allowing the athletes to reach longer measures. Klimov, holder of the Summer Grand Prix, proved once again the most fit athlete of the moment and with a jump of 131.5 m managed to contain the comeback of Stephan Leyhe, thus obtaining the first victory for Russia in the Cup of the special jumping world. Place of honor for the German, seven points away from the winner, third instead Ryoyu Kobayashi. For both it is the first podium in career in individual competitions of the first level. Fourthly bitter spot for Kamil Stoch who jumped in unfavorable wind conditions. Behind the Polish have closed the Slovenian Zajc 5th, the Polish Zyla 6th and the Finnish Aalto 7th, real surprise of the day. Good test for the 'only Italian in the race Alex Insam who won the points area by settling in 28th place.
On Saturday the first Team Event of the season went on stage, which was mainly used by the athletes to find more confidence with the Polish trampoline. At the end of the two rotations, the success went to Poland, which deployed for the occasion Stoch, Kubacki, Wolny and Zyla. The hosts preceded by 11 points the Germans Geiger, Eisenbichler, Leyhe and Freitag. Third place instead for Austria (Aigner, Huber D., Hayböck and Kraft) who left behind Japan 4th and Switzerland 5th. Very disappointing the test of the Slovenian quartet, 7th at the end of the race. Norway did not go beyond the 10th position due to a disqualification for irregular suit in the first rotation of Robert Johansson. The Scandinavians thus interrupted the series of consecutive podiums in a team test at twelve.
Next week the World Cup will move to Finland, to Kuusamo, where there will be two individual competitions.
