In the late afternoon today on the Large Hill of the Saxon town the thirteenth stage of the World Cup opened. What was supposed to be a qualification has actually turned into a prologue, in light of the only 50 athletes entered in the race.

The event was therefore deprived of any sporting value, since there were no eliminated athletes. Italy was absent in this stage, with Alex Insam competing in the Continental Cup in Willingen and Giovanni Bresadola preparing for the upcoming world youth championships.
The best jump of the day was that of Halvor Egner Granerud, the ruler of the season, who starting from the lowest pole obtained the longest measure (141 m), giving the competition the beauty of 8 points. Place of honor for Bor Pavlovcic, recovering after a phase of fogging. The Slovenian, who landed at 140.5 m, preceded Dawid Kubacki by two tenths. Good answers came from Eisenbichler 4th, while Kamil Stoch 12th and Karl Geiger 33rd struggled.
