The organizers: "99.9% will run". Shares returned in full in the event of a move to 2022.

"The 2021 edition will take place at 99.9%". Walter Felderer and his group that organizes the Gran Fondo Val Casies are very convinced that the 38th edition of a great classic of winter disciplines in Italy will be staged regularly on February 20-21. And so today, 1 September, registrations open as expected: “The public administrations and our sponsors have all reconfirmed their collaboration. Given the period, we expected some cancellations, but everything is confirmed and indeed new partners are on the way. Above all thanks to the live broadcast on RAI Sport which increased the visibility of our event and our partners ”.
Felderer with his staff proceeds quickly. The South Tyrolean committee has always stood out for its fairness and great professionalism: an edition has never been canceled, even in the hardest years due to lack of snow. Obviously the limitations and regulations linked to the pandemic are worrying, but the organizers are ready to adapt to all the directives. Registrations can be made for the single races of 30 and 42 km, those in classic on Saturday 20 and those in free technique on Sunday 21 February.
There is also the possibility to register for both days, obviously with a discount. The organizers inform that by 31 December they will decide whether or not to confirm the event, based on the progress of the Covid-19 situation. In the unfortunate case of cancellation (that famous 0.1% chance), those who have already completed the registration can request a full refund at 100% or decide to keep the fee for the 2022 edition.
In Val Casies, work continues to improve the event year by year. The underpass is at an advanced stage of construction, and will be ready by autumn, to take the climb towards Tesido in order to avoid crossing the provincial road. The starting area will also be improved to make it easier and, in all likelihood, also the finish area with an extension. The work of 450 volunteers can be felt and seen. The classic South Tyrolean granfondo, despite having reached its 38th edition, is increasingly brilliant. Confirmed the princely lunch at the end of the race, woe to call it pasta party, prepared by the chefs of Val Casies, and also confirmed the Mini Val Casies which this time will be valid - as well as for the "Trofeo Alto Adige" circuit - also for the "Coppa Italia young Rode ".
As always, the commitment of the Val Casies-Monguelfo-Tesido tourist association is concrete for the construction of the slope, also dedicated to tourists. Obviously we always hope in the arrival of abundant natural snow, but in Sant''Ambrogio the first 15 km will still be guaranteed as tradition, then from 5-6 January an increase of another 10 km, then by the end of January a complete track of 42 km : a project worth about 100 thousand euros, with the track usually used for about 65% by Italians and the rest by foreigners.
