According to the Norwegian portal "Nrk", there are five athletes who have suffered serious damage at the end of the long distance run in Switzerland.

Several participants of the Diagonela, the first stage of the Ski Classics circuit, 69 km of classic technique cross-country skiing, suffered more or less severe frostbite on hands and feet.
For the Swede Michael Eklöf one would even speak of necrosis of the right big toe. Frenchman Thomas Joly, who ended up in hospital with two other teammates, suffered four-finger third-degree frostbite. Even worse went to German Patrick Ottillinger, who lost sensitivity in two fingers. The medium, turned blue, is what worries the most.
The circuit regulation provides that if in most of the course the temperature measured is below -25 degrees (in the World Cup the limit is -18 °), you will not compete. The values recorded in Zuoz, in the Engadine, were -22 °, -17 ° and -13 ° and then at 8:10 the women's marathon with tight skis started and at 8:40 the men's one. Some cross-country skiers hinted that it was colder than the official thermometer said. On the other hand, the organizers argue that some participants did not protect themselves adequately to the climatic conditions of the track.
