"The start of the season was really good: I already felt good in Ruka but a problem with the materials did not allow me to achieve an excellent result. In Davos and Dresden I felt really good and I brought two wonderful victories to home, even if competing without the Norvgians, especially from a tactical point of view, is not the same thing and consequently there are many more expectations on me, but winning under pressure is even more beautiful. "- began Federico Pellegrino, interviewed by the duo Puppo-Ambesi, during the traditional Monday appointment "Poligono 360".
A very lucid Pellegrino in his declarations and aware of his current qualities, as well as of the great experience he has gained in these years of the World Cup: "The two victories came in different contexts: Davos is a simple track, with classic winter snow, I like it a lot from a technical point of view. I also knew very well what would be the point where I could make the difference, that is the final climb; and so it was. Dresden I must admit that I don't like it very much, spring snow and many other unknowns, let's say that the city tracks are not really my favorites "- and on the World Championships track in Oberstdorf he adds:" It will not be the track where we competed last season, there have been some changes; for example, the team sprint will take place on a completely new track " .
The question relating to Scanidnave teams was also touched: "I am paid to train and compete, it's my job and my position on this topic is very clear: there are rules, which obviously must be respected, and which allow us to compete in safety. It would make no logical sense not to participate in some stages only due to the absence of important national teams such as Norway and Sweden ".
And on an idea by Massimiliano Ambesi to schedule the Tour de Ski every four years to avoid a very high number of forfeits in the December stages, he replies as follows: "Since there are so many races, athletes have the opportunity to skip a few, unfortunately at missing is only cross-country skiing, especially the organizers of the stage.
The incidence of the injury that happened in the summer does not seem to have weighed: "I worked very well to recover and I have to thank the medical staff of the national team if I am now very well; after Pyeonchang 2018 I had to slow down a bit the pace of training, just to be able to afford again some great seasons at a high level, especially with the Beijing 2022 goal in the first place. "
"Taking care of the details and also having a bit of malice in the technical and tactical choices is what it takes to be a winner in sprint races" - explains "Chicco", telling some decisive moments to conquer that type of race.
When asked about the seasonal goal, he is not unbalanced: "Bolshunov on Saturday told me that he wants the sprint cup, I always try to do my best in every race, winning as much as possible. When the classic sprints start, however, something could change , everything is possible".
