Federico Pellegrino special guest of the Garda Trentino Trail: "Ready to go back to skiing in Ramsau"

After the injury in August, the vice Olympic champion spoke at the Arco race. And the viewfinder is already focused on the World Championships in Oberstdorf.

“I am progressively regaining physical efficiency after the muscle injury in August. In recent weeks I have had to limit myself to work in the gym and swimming pool, then I have gradually resumed pedaling and inserting the roller skis, limiting myself to thrusts: now I'm ready to get back on track. I missed several weeks of training, but I expect to be in good shape for the start of the season. Word of Federico Pellegrino, world champion and Olympic sprint vice-champion, special guest of the fifth edition of the Garda Trentino Trail, the 60 km running test staged between Garda Trentino and Valle di Ledro with victories of Manuel Bonardi from Como and by Julia Kessler from Merano. A month and a half away from the hamstring problem, the thirty-year-old from the Fiamme Oro counts the days that separate him from returning to the snow next week in Ramsau, Austria. A world, that of mountain running, that the Aosta Valley champion knows well given the kinship that binds him to the European champion Xavier Chevrier, his cousin. "I have always liked racing and it is nice to experience the atmosphere of the race up close, especially in an event so well cared for and with a practically summery climate like the one you breathe here in the Garda and Ledro area". The winter of 2021 will live - barring unforeseen events - its peak with the World Championships in Oberstdorf scheduled from 23 February to 7 March next. And for Pellegrino, who for years has prepared the Cup season in the nearby Valle di Ledro, including the gold medal in the 2017 sprint, jokes with Franco Collè, super ultra-trail champion, on a double specialty challenge launched with godfather Alessio Ranaldo. “I agree to run the Garda Trentino Trail, then we do the revenge on the cross-country tracks at Tremalzo but calmly, very calmly. Maybe in 2021 or later. The World Cup? I will try to be ready from a physical point of view, waiting to have all the necessary confirmations of what will be the calendar and the competition procedures. Last year in Oberstdorf I was fourth, in classic technique as we will compete on February 25th ”.
