Finnish party at Ruka: 15 km CT Niskanen

After finishing second in the women's race Krista Pärmäkoski, Iivo Niskanen has completed on Sunday almost perfect Finland, beating all the men's 15 km CT.

The 24 year old Olympic champion of the sprint team, winner of the similar test two years ago, started with bib number 21, well before all the more illustrious opponents, and thus had the disadvantage of competing effectively without references. The long wait of the leading Niskanen's corner was really upset for the first time by Emil Iversen, close to Finland at the end of the first round (+0.6 s) and able to operate with a great finish to overtake the second lap. In the third, however, Norway has granted in the very first section of the track, before stabilizing on a deficit of just over 10 seconds, still good for the place of honor. Even Calle Halfvarsson, last to score times from top positions, remained in contention for victory for two thirds of the race, after leading for the first 3 km. As more and Iversen, the Swede, however, dropped the last round, before exiting from the struggle for success, then even from that for the podium. The gap opened by the Halfvarsson failure has been known to put Martin Johnsrud Sundby, coming out as well with a podium from the first weekend post-disqualification. Fourth, on the other hand, Didrik Tønseth that monopolizing distance races Beitostølen had earned in the predictions of many gallons of favorite. At the same time with the Norwegian, 17 seconds Niskanen, finished Johan Olsson, who returned to the better after a 2015-16 season entirely dedicated to long distances. Scandinavian monologue ranking continues with Finn Haagen Krogh, sixth, and Halfvarsson finally fell in seventh place. A break is Alexander Bessmertnykh, eighth; in 10, behind the second athlete of the house, Matti Heikkinen, also Andrew Musgrave, who confirmed his good leg already on display at Beitostølen. For the British this is the best result ever in a race not to chase. As for the Italian colors, the best of the Blues was - surprise - Federico Pellegrino also favored by the train game, the Aosta Valley has taken a very positive 16th place. Also in the points Dietmar Nöckler, 21 °. Below expectations, however, evidence of Francesco De Fabiani, remained outside the points with his 34th place. 15 KM TC MALE RUKA - FINAL 1.
