Through a press release, the Norwegian Ski Federation announced that Finn Hagen Krogh will not be in the match sprint Sochi 2014, in its place Ola Vigen Hattestad.

Originally the Norwegian quartet that was supposed to take part in the sprint free technique, scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 11, was composed by Eirik Brandsdal, GlÃ¸ersen Anders, Finn Hagen Krogh and Petter Northug. Ola Vigen Hattestad had been summoned as a reserve, but the bright condition shown Dobbiaco, which enabled him to gain fluency in the career victory number 13 (12 World Cup champion more gold in Liberec in 2009), has convinced technicians to insert it into the holder quartet. Considering the fact that Northug is untouchable, especially on the route of Sochi where he came second in the sprint in just skating last year, and that in addition to Brandsdal won in the season was placed immediately behind Hattestad last Sunday, the excluded excellent came out of the runoff between GlÃ¸ersen and Krogh. Between the two, both disappointing in Dobbiaco, was preferred GlÃ¸ersen, by the success early in the season in Davos. For Krogh therefore nothing Olympics, unless otherwise stated in the team sprint repechage, such decision has sparked several controversies in Norway, as the exploits of Hattestad has forced the Fed to exclude one of the athletes who had already had the confidence to participate in the race. Krogh, despite having performed worse this year compared to his countrymen, he was considered by many to be a very suitable candidate for the medals as a tough path as that of Sochi, on the other hand, which seem to have less chances pure specialists as Brandsdal, GlÃ¸ersen and Hattestad. Only we will know next Tuesday if the choice will prove successful or if Norway will have to suffer a setback at home that would give rise to further controversy.
