GF Val Casies, registrations for the 2023 edition are open: appointment on 18-19 February

The great classic of cross-country skiing will celebrate event number 39 next winter: enthusiasts from 40 countries are expected, the quotas to participate.

Thirty-ninth anniversary for one of the traditional winter ski marathons. A long history that started a long time ago that of the Gran Fondo Val Casies, it was precisely 1984 when the South Tyrolean organizing committee, which has always been chaired by Walter Felderer, decided to propose a race that would later be consecrated as one of the most important in Italy in tight ski matter. And not only. The number of participants in the South Tyrolean granfondo, scheduled for the next 18 and 19 February 2023, “equalizes” or exceeds that of the inhabitants of the valley at every single edition, with the total count reaching even 69,642 athletes. Every year cross-country skiers from around forty nations come to compete on the snows of the suggestive Gsies valley, in South Tyrol, an area of peace and tranquility but also of healthy competition. As usual, the third weekend of February Val Casies is a challenging terrain for fans of narrow skis along the traditional 30 km and 42 km courses, on Saturday with the classic race and on Sunday in free technique. For the more experienced and the "Just for Fun" all that remains is to click on the website of the event and confirm, starting from June 1st, the shares of 63 euros to try their hand at the classic technique challenge, 64 euros for the free technique competition, 103 euros to compete in both and 51 euros for the Just For Fun, while the boys (born in the period 20.02.2005 - 19.02.2007) can take advantage of the 50% youth discount. Competitors are not required to indicate their preferred distance when registering and may feel free to decide which route to undertake on the day of the race. The committee also proposes the interesting “Gift Voucher” option, suitable for those who want to amaze friends or relatives on birthdays or anniversaries and thus give an experience on narrow skis. To keep up to date and not miss the latest news, all that remains is to follow the FB and IG social pages of the famous event and one of the most loved in the entire Alpine arc. There will also be an appointment for the little ones, with the 29th Mini Val Casies on Saturday afternoon. “Unity is strength” and to create a sporting event of this magnitude, in a valley of such small dimensions, the contribution of all the inhabitants is needed; in fact, the Gran Fondo Val Casies involves amateur sports associations and about 450 volunteers present behind the scenes who put their heart and soul into it so that the athletes never lack for anything. The "Wall of Fame" has recently been updated with the names of the winners of the last edition, so the champions of the 42 km in classic Dietmar Noeckler and Malin Boerjesoe and in free technique with Lorenzo Romano and Ilenia Defrancesco appear engraved, and those of the 30 km in classic with Stefano Dellagiacoma and Michaela Patscheider and finally those in free technique with Matteo Tanel and Martina Bellini. The first step to enter the “Wall of Fame” is to register, reserve your bib and look forward to 2023 for an electrifying 39th Gran Fondo Val Casies. The fun and the true competitive spirit that reigns in the granfondo are guaranteed.
