In the last hours the convocations of Norway, Sweden and Russia have been issued in view of the Nordic Opening of Ruka of the World Cup of cross-country skiing. Let's see what were the decisions of the technical staffs of the three superpowers of the discipline.

In less than four days in Ruka the 2019-'20 season of the cross-country World Cup will start: in the ski resort near the city of Kuusamo the first seasonal mini-tour is scheduled which provides an alternating sprint (Friday 29), a distance starting at intervals always in classical technique (Saturday 30) and to close a skating pursuit.
After the last pre-season tests held last weekend, the three superpowers of Norway, Sweden and Russia have announced the athletes who will compete in Finland. There was no shortage of surprises.
NORWAY
Without doubt the decision that arouses the greatest astonishment in Norway is the failure to convene the rising star Helene Marie Fossesholm: in the competitions of Beitostølen the young 2001 class had collected the third place behind Johaug and Weng both in the 10 Km in alternate and in that in skating, but also in the sprint in classic technique he had defended himself by tearing the qualification to the batteries. Given the shape shown in the Fossesholm home tests, he could have placed himself comfortably in the top 10 at the end of the Nordic Opening and who knows, maybe try to have his say for the top-three.
With the absence indefinitely of the holder of the crystal ball Ingvild Flugstad Østberg, the Norwegians will focus on Therese Johaug for the World Cup and secondly they hope to find the best Heidi Weng in the race for the other two podium finishes. Waiting also for the sprint champion Maiken Caspersen Falla, called to remove important points from Nilsson in the short-distance trials.

SWEDEN
