Cross-country skiers of the Central Alps Committee: four days on the snow to start the new season

Last weekend on the glacier, first jobs for young people: the words of the manager in charge Corrado Vanini.

From 10 to 13 June, cross-country skiers from the Central Alps met at the Stelvio for their first meeting on the snow. Preparation for the 2021/22 competitive season has started, with a program that saw skiing in the morning on the track designed in step and athletics in the afternoon. After having carried out the swab made available by the Committee, thanks to the support of the Lombardy Region and Lombard Coni, athletes and technicians entered the covid-free bubble of the Hotel Folgore which, in addition to the Committee, hosted the "A" cross-country team German, for three days that had the main purpose of getting to know the new entries and starting to set up the work that will gradually lead the boys to get in shape for the first races. Present, in addition to the technicians Corrado Vanini, Morris Galli, Thomas Bormolini and Luigi Schena, the seven novelties of the team which are Gemma Nani, Vanessa Comensoli, Martina Bonacorsi, Gabriele Matli, Nicolas Rocca, Davide Negroni and Gioele Gaglia. The new recruits met the athletes confirmed from last season: Leonardo Capelli, Lorenzo Moizi, Denise Dedei, Martina Ielitro, Cassandra Bonaldi, Giulia Negroni, Elena Rossi and Manuela Salvadori, in addition to the three Lombard cross-country skiers aggregated to the national team Francesca Cola, Veronica Silvestri and Lucia Insonni. "This first meeting - said the coach in charge Corrado Vanini - was very important, first of all to get to know and make ourselves known by the new entrants, and then to start setting the work programs both from the point of view of skiing technique and from that of athletic training. This year, thanks to the perfect snow and track conditions, the morning was dedicated to skiing, both in classic technique and in skating, on hard snow first and then transformed, in order to get the kids used to the different conditions they could find in competition, while the afternoons were devoted to athletic training with sessions in the gym and walking with sticks. What we as technicians want to make the boys understand already from the first rallies is that we need to work with a progression of the loads that can lead them to have the right condition during the competitive season, then trying to find the peaks of form for the important appointments, with a training schedule that will be shared and coordinated with the club's coaches ”. Where and when will the next meeting take place? “With the boys - continues Vanini - we will meet in Livigno on July 1st for an athletic meeting in which we will perform an evaluation test which we will repeat in November in order to check the evolution of the form. On that occasion we will officially present the team with the new uniforms in the presence of the president of the Federation Flavio Roda, Franco Zecchini, president of the Central Alps and Federico Sosio, the cross-country ski manager of the Committee ".
