2021 Italian Summer Championships

Grand finale at the Carnia Arena with the Alpe Adria Summer Nordic Festival and the summer tricolors of cross-country skiing and roller skis. Maltsev and Stupak win the races at an absolute level.

The Italian summer cross-country and roller ski championships in Forni Avoltri closed in the name of Russia. In the distance trials included within the long weekend of the Alpe Adria Summer Nordic Festival, the athletes led by the technician Cramer dominated the senior rankings.
In the women's field, in particular, Yulia Stupak was the authentic protagonist of the entire two days at the Carnia Arena; the 26-year-old Olympic medalist of Pyeongchang 2018, today in the 10 km distance has in fact repeated the success achieved in yesterday's sprint, demonstrating an impressive step on roller skis. If the Russian was the star of the overall standings, in the ranking valid for the summer tricolors it was Caterina Ganz from Fassa who made the big voice. The thirty of the Gs Fiamme Gialle has in fact closed the tricolor review with two gold medals.
Ganz, after having mocked the biathlete Federica Sanfilippo (GS Fiamme Oro, today 9th overall and 6th among the Italians) in the sprint on Saturday at the photofinish, today had the best of just 1 "7 on the standard-bearer of CS Army Ilenia Defrancesco, accusing a delay of 18 ”3 from Stupak. The podium in the ranking of the Italian Championships was completed by the brilliant Carnic Cristina Pittin (CS Army), third at 20 ”5 from the new Italian champion.
Also at Friuli Venezia Giulia, second gold medal for the daughter of art Martina Di Centa who once again excelled in the Under23 category. The second victory for Russia came in the men's distance test in the senior category. In the selective 15 km, the success went to Anton Maltsev, who with a time of 32''50 "8 preceded by 15" 6 the great favorite of the day before, the Aosta Valley's Francesco De Fabiani. The standard bearer of the CS Army can still celebrate with the victory in the ranking valid for the Italian Championships, where he preceded by 6 ”9 a brilliant Federico Pellegrino (GS Fiamme Oro), ruler yesterday in the sprint.
The big surprise of the day came from the former biathlete Giuseppe Montello, who on his home track took an interesting fourth place overall and above all a bronze in the Italian classification, in his first real comparison against the best Italian cross-country skiers. In key Friuli Venezia Giulia Committee, good performances for the standard bearer of the Orsago Ski Club, Michael Galassi (13th overall - 9th tricolor), for the two financiers Davide Graz and Luca Del Fabbro, respectively 14th and 16th overall, but above all second and third in the Under23 ranking.
In the late morning the national distance titles of the youth categories were also awarded. Among the Under20s, an affirmation for Veronica Silvestri (GS Fiamme Gialle) who adds another metal to her collection after yesterday's bronze in the sprint. Behind the winner, 27 ”5 behind, was Denise Dedei (SC Gromo), while third was Ylvie Folie (Amateur Sci Club Sesvenna). In the same category but for men, back to back to Elia Barp. The standard bearer of the Fiamme Gialle, winner of the sprint on Saturday, today trimmed 56 "1 to teammate Andrea Zorzi and 1" 24 "4 to Giacomo Petrini (Subiaco Sciatori Group).
In the Aspirants category (Under18) female success and second Italian title in that of Forni Avoltri, for the Carabiniera Iris De Martin Pinter (CS Carabinieri) who got the better of Virginia Cena (VV.F G. Godioz) and Matilde Salvagno (SC Alpi Marittime). Among the male equal shares, victory and gold medal for the financier Davide Ghio (second in the sprint yesterday), second place for Aksel Artusi (Sporting Club Livigno), third instead Gabriele Rigaudo (Ski Club Alpi Marittime).
During the awards ceremony, the coach of the Russian team Markus Cramer, and the Technical Directors of the Italian national roller skis and cross-country skiers, publicly expressed their thanks to ASD Monte Coglians for organizing for the fourth time in the last five years a very high level event, which attracted as many as 265 athletes from all over Italy to the center of Piani di Luzza.
A winter season appetizer that we hope will be full of further satisfactions for the Carnian association which has always believed in the potential of this center and which is ready to face new even more ambitious challenges.
