The case Northug, excluded from the national team to the World Cup for 2015-16, not & egrave; destined to end soon. Late yesterday afternoon the Norwegian champion has issued a press release in which he explains the situation from his point of view.

These steps pi & ugrave; significant than claimed by Northug that, as it turns out, would continue to compete for Norway also in the races of the World Cup. I regret that once again we are talking about me and my choices. I need to tell everybody, my goal & egrave; to compete in the World Cup for Norway is next winter that followed. L & rsquo; only thing I asked the Federation & egrave; to respect the conditions which had been defined before deciding on their own initiative my exclusion from the national team. The rules allow me to be more of a national cross-country skier, but the Federation did not show the will & agrave; to make it happen.
I did not say n & eacute; s & Igrave; n & eacute; no to their proposal.
This morning (yesterday, ed) I came home to Trondheim after 20 days of high altitude training in Italy. I trained well and I had no distractions, so I guaranteed tranquility & agrave; mental focus 100% on every single session. Along the streets I saw an enthusiastic crowd while I was wearing proudly the Norwegian flag on his shirt.
Perch & eacute; my goal & egrave; really to win again for Norway. I want to beat my rivals in the World Cup, the World Championships and the Olympics in the next three seasons. Also I would like to take part in some long distance races well defined.
Since I decided in 2013 to quit the national team, I had the freedom & agrave; organize my life and my training, trying new methods and solutions to build better my future. L & rsquo; alternative was to hang the skis to the nail.
Before that decision, I prayed to the Federation because & eacute; did clarify the conditions to be applied where I had turned to them for travel, hotels and expenses for trainers, physiotherapist and materials. I then informed that Coop would be the & rsquo; eventual partners.
One answer I & egrave; been given, even in writing, by Skinstad (head of the Norwegian cross-country skiing, ed), I said clearly that I could represent Norway with the same rights and obligations that apply in the various competitions.
Since I for & ograve; made this decision, the Federation has changed the rules and their interpretation, trying to force me to return to the national team, that & egrave; managed fantastically, but that does pi & ugrave; part of my model. I pi & ugrave; motivation and energy rimanendone & Outdoors; outside.
I would therefore represent the team as a distance runner and be treated the same way as the others, not asking for special treatment. I take full responsibility & agrave; and the costs for the pre-season, coaches, medical equipment and stays. It certainly will respect & ograve; the conditions that apply to all cross-country skiers of Norway, including being faithful sponsors of the Nation, when I represent.
I'm not challenging the national model, and I will not ruin it. I only ask to get the & rsquo; admission to the races of the World Cup, are still able to win for my country.
