The oldest cross-country skiing event in the province of Belluno has raised the white flag for its 42nd edition scheduled for autumn.

Even the Sportful Grand Prix, the longest-running sporting event in the province of Belluno, will not be held in this 2020; up to the last one it had been hoped, with the Sportful Nordic Skiing board having regularly scheduled the event that would have blown out the 42 candles. On 7 August, with the resolution of the FISI council in which events and participation to all athletes of the national teams are prohibited until 15 October, the project is in fact shipwrecked.
Alessio Cremonese, CEO of Sportful and Vice President of Sportful Nordic Skiing, explained the choice to cancel the 2020 appointment as follows: "Unfortunately, we too have to bow to this damned virus, it's a shame not to be able to celebrate the 42nd edition, but we must accept the decisions of our Federal President Roda, who will surely have evaluated the situation and with the information in his possession has chosen the path of security which in this period does not hurt.
There remains the regret of having to interrupt the series of the longest running event in the province, but the health of the athletes and the public comes first and we too are forced to raise the white flag. However, as always, I thank all the Sportful Nordic Ski volunteers and all the friends of the organization who, even in this particular period, had responded to the possibility of organizing the event with the usual dedication and passion that has brought us this far in these 41 editions ".
Many events canceled this year in all disciplines and certainly next year the Sportful Nordic Skiing will restart with a new push and with new stimuli to continue to be the longest-running Belluno event, even if not consecutive. Unfortunately, we too must stop in the face of this pandemic. This year Sportful Nordic Skiing turns 43 and it will be a complicated year for its management, but the Nordic Skiing Council wants to relaunch solidarity, not asking for the 2000 euros that the new rules also make available to the sports clubs of the Belluno that have had economic losses due to Covid. Our events have always been supported thanks to the registrations and the contribution of the Main Sponsor Sportful. We believe that at this moment it is right not to make this request for the non-repayable grant provided for by the Relaunch decree also for the ASDs of the province of Belluno. It seems correct that the contribution goes to sports clubs more in difficulty and to support the activity in favor of young people.
By canceling the Sportful Grand Prix, Nordic skiing consequently also cancels the sprint on Saturday, which took place in the center of Feltre even if it was a promotional race, but which at this point having no athletes present would be impossible to organize ”.
