Italian championships organized by the Ski Club Oltre CPA of Monza in collaboration with the Sci Club 13 Clusone, for an event in memory of Beppe Barzasi. And all the blues are expected, starting with Federico Pellegrino.

An appointment that reconnects with history after many years, for the 2020/2021 edition of the Italian sprint and team sprint championships that will bring cross-country skiing back to Clusone, next 23-24 January.
The Oltre CPA Ski Club of Monza, in collaboration with the 13 Clusone Ski Club, will propose in a single trial an event expected in a location that has an important past; In fact, Clusone already hosted the first Nordic ski race in La Spessa in 1938, then 62 years after a spectacular World Cup event that went down in history not only for the victory of the Italian and Bergamo Fabio Maj, but also for the tenacity, determination and passion of the organizers and the people of Clusone.
This time there is also the great experience of Omar Galli and the Oltre Cancro Primo Help Ski Club, in the limelight for the organization of the fast World Cup alpine ski races. The challenges of the Italian Championship will be dedicated to the memory of Beppe Barzasi, soul of the Ski Club 13 Clusone, of the Bergamo Nordic skiing and national member of the FISI, and it could not be otherwise after his untimely death due to Covid. The event also has a very deep reason, to highlight the attempt to return to normal in a land devastated by Covid. The Clusone event on 23 and 24 January already starts with the best wishes, with two leading consultants such as Omar Galli, who is also the referent of the Ski Club Oltre CPA, and Renato Pasini, from Bergamo from Gromo, world champion of Team Sprint of Sapporo paired with Zorzi but above all particularly tied to Beppe Barzasi.
The details of the track will be decided shortly, for sure the idea is to broadly re-propose the World Cup track in La Spessa, very technical and demanding. In La Spessa, practically close to the historic center of Clusone, the sprint World Cup was hosted both in 2000 and 2002. In this project, the partnership of the Lombardy Region and Cancro Primo Help Onlus is important, with a testimonial such as Federico Pellegrino who obviously will be at the start with the colors of the FFOOs, to bring home "his" sprint and, probably paired with Didi Noeckler or Michael Hellweger, the sprint team.
Obviously all the Azzurri are expected at the Bergamo appointment, also because the Italian Championships have always been a prestigious target for military sports groups. The Clusone tricolor project stems from an initial idea of bringing the World Cup back to Milan, and precisely with a sprint and the related test event of the Italian Championship, an initiative postponed to 2022 due to the anti Covid protocols. For this reason, the appointment of 23 and 24 January will be "behind closed doors", but a summary has already been confirmed on TV in the days immediately following the races.
