The uncertain future of Calle Halfvarsson but possible Falun World Championships.

Halfvarsson hopes to continue his career until the Falun World Cup where he could say goodbye to his competitive activity.

Shortly after the confirmation of the assignment of the world championships to Falun 2027 in Sweden, the prominent cross-country skier of the Swedish national team in recent years was interviewed by colleagues at SVT about his future in professionalism. In his statements he seems willing to continue until that date also to represent his country in this important event. In fact, the Swede already participated in the event held in the city itself in 2015. On that occasion he obtained world silver in the relay and sixth place in the skiathlon. In itself, the road is still long and in 2027 Halfvarsson will be 38 years old, quite advanced in age and likely to close his career at the 2027 World Cup, health and performance permitting. On the other hand, between now and 2027 there are the world championships in Planica in Slovenia next year, in Throndheim in Norway in 2025 and the Milan-Cortina Olympics in 2026. Falun in its context has hosted four Nordic World Ski Championships (1954,1974,1993 and 2015) and the next will be the fifth in its history, the sixth in Sweden; the first in the country of Charles Gustav XVI of Sweden was held in Solleftea in 1934.
