The grand finale on Cermis confirmed for the Tour de Ski 2022: the details of the two days in Fiemme

With the official status of the World Cup calendars, here is the confirmation of the only stage always present in the circuit that represents the heart of the season. Appointment on 3-4 January 2022.

Over the years it has distinguished itself as a venue for events of the greatest importance in the international Nordic skiing panorama and also in 2022 it will not fail to give 360 degrees emotions. It is the Val di Fiemme, which also in the next edition of the Tour de Ski will host the final phase of the most important stage race in the world of cross-country skiing. A burden, of course, but above all an honor that the Fiemme World Cup Committee will be able to enhance as it did in the previous 15 years in which the Tour made a stop in the land of Fiemme, the only place that has hosted all editions. The FIS has officially ratified the World Cup calendar, so now it can be assumed that the program in Val di Fiemme includes two-day races, on 3 and 4 January 2022, and no longer three as in the latest editions, this is to meet the needs of athletes in view of the next Winter Olympic Games. The first day will be opened with the classic technique Mass Start of 10 km for women and 15 km for men at the Cross Country Center in Lago di Tesero, while the worthy conclusion will be reserved, as always, for the famous Final Climb with the ascent to Alpe del Cermis which, after the welcome appreciation of the last editions, will once again start in line, in free technique. After last season when, due to Covid, the public was unable to participate in the great Tour de Ski party and many side events did not see the light, the hope is to be able to return to normal in 2022 even if , to date, it is still too early to make assumptions and risk budgets. Certainly, to counterbalance there will be the live televisions able to bring the spectacle of international cross-country skiing around the world, but above all the wonders of a valley that has always been involved in Nordic skiing and absolute protagonist of the World Cup. The Tour de Ski will arrive in Val di Fiemme after the first two stages of Lenzerheide and Oberstdorf: in the first inaugural in Switzerland the Sprint races in free technique and the 10 and 15 km in classic will be held, while in the German stage there will be a Mass Start of 10 and 15 km in skating and again Sprint, but this time in classic technique.
