Lausanne's Tas said on suspicion of Fis competitions with Alexander Legkov, Maxim Vylegzhanin, Alexey Petukhov, Evgeny Belov, Julia Ivanova and Evgenia Shapovalova following the allegations in the McLaren report.

The six names are included in the list of athletes whose samples taken during the Sochi 2014 period are suspected of having been tampered with due to scratches on the test tubes. Based on this list, in December 2016, the CIO decided to open a survey of a total of 28 athletes.
As a result, FIS has suspended the above mentioned seat, preventing it from taking part in any international competition. Five of the six fundraisers involved appealed to the Arbitral Tribunal for Sport in Lausanne, which today issued its ruling.
The Tas has ruled that suspension is legitimate, but it can not be of indefinite length. Therefore, the sanction is to be regarded as provisional and may last until 31 October 2017 at the latest.
If, by that date, the investigation (still underway) will not be able to produce evidence of a violation of anti-doping law, then the six Russian federists will be free to go back to competing.
However, it is obvious that if the International Olympic Committee were to test these violations after October 31, then the disqualification would come in anyway. In the meantime, however, the fall would have returned to full-fledged activity.
The Tas simply decided that the temporary suspension can not be sine die, but it must have a deadline.
