The Tour de Ski at its epilogue: a historic Klaebo on the Cermis on Sunday, but Italfondo shines with a splendid result

With De Fabiani, in the classic Fiemme mass start, the podium came from the third different athlete: "I really believed in it today".

The Tour de Ski is heading towards its epilogue, with the traditional conclusion on Sunday on the very tough ramps of Alpe del Cermis. With Frida Karlsson and Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo masters, with the Norwegian already from the history books with six victories in as many contested in this edition, but also a national team that, at least at the men's level, was truly amazing. On the podium with three different athletes, in all competition formats, from Pellegrino splendid in the sprint in TL and at distance level, to Mocellini third in the classic sprint yesterday in Lago di Tesero, up to the top 3 torn by the wire today in the 15 km TC by Francesco De Fabiani. In "his" race, i.e. the distance on the Fiemme snow which has already seen him as a great protagonist in the past, the Aosta Valley rider went on to take an important podium in comeback, just think that the last one had arrived in the same challenge as two years ago, when he finished second: "It was a difficult Tour de Ski, in which I started a little under tone - De Fabiani declared to fisi.org - but in every race I improved and here in Val di Fiemme, on a track that I like, in front of the home crowd I believed in it to the end. It had never happened to me to make the decisive overtaking on the final straight; the last race is still missing, which is always tough, I hope I don't suffer too much so as not to lose positions in the standings. I was in the room with Mocellini and I'd say it went well. It's nice that there aren't always and only Pellegrino and De Fabiani on the podium, but also a novelty that is almost certainty like Simone, an excellent sign for the short and long-term future of the national team”. Pellegrino is the best blue in the standings, 4th overall in this Tour de Ski, but it is clear that in a technical context like that of Cermis, the Aosta Valley champion would need a half-miracle to fight for the final podium. The men's race will close the program of the central event of the season, Sunday from 12.45, preceded by the women's 10 km mass start, which will start at 11.00 instead.
