Jessie Diggins won the award for best US athlete of the year in winter sports!

The cross-country skier, new winner of the World Cup and the Tour de Ski, received the '' Beck International Award '' from the American Federation.

The season just ended was certainly the most exciting of Jessie Diggins career. The twenty-nine year old native of Afton, in fact, won the overall World Cup, also due to the absence of the Norwegian Therese Johaug for most of the season, in addition to the triumph in the general classification of the Tour de Ski. In addition, the American cross-country skier has achieved four victories in CdM in the past season, one more than all the others (three), obtained in the rest of her career. To crown Diggins' excellent season there was also a special recognition conferred by the United States Federation (US Ski and Snowboard): the '' Beck International award '', which rewards the best American athlete of the year in winter sports. Jessie Diggins, who had already obtained this recognition in 2016 and 2018, in addition to having won the overall award, also took home the one as best cross-country skier. Recall that Diggins brought the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup back to the United States thirty-nine years after the last stars and stripes success, when Bill Koch conquered the crystal ball. The Minnesota native was also the first American cross-country skier ever to win the Tour de Ski. Other awards went to Miakela Shiffrin in alpine skiing, Colby Stevenson in freeskiing, Winter Vinecki in freestyle, Tara Geraghty-Moats in Nordic combined, Paige Jones in ski jumping and Chloe Kim in snowboarding.
