Johaug super favorite with the Swedes in ambush: here is the start list of women's skiathlon, debut of the cross-country in Bei

Tomorrow Saturday 5 February cross-country skiing will enter the scene in the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games. The first competition to award the medals will be the women's 15 km skiathlon (7.5 km + 7.5 km), with the Norwegian Therese Johaug favored d ''obligation. Four blue at the start, with Anna Comarella looking for a result among the best twenty.

For cross-country skiing it's already time for medals: on the Italian morning of tomorrow Saturday 5 February, at 8:45 am (15:45 local time), the first race of the Olympic cross-country skiing program, the women's skiathlon, will start. On the snow of Zhangjiakou, a town 150 km north of Beijing, one of the first Olympic titles of the Beijing Games will be awarded. The number one favorite is undoubtedly the Norwegian Therese Johaug (bib number 3), world champion in Oberstdorf 2021 in this race format (7.5 km in classic and 7.5 in skating), given in excellent shape and particularly at ease with the slow snow present on the Zhangjiakou track. Bib number one will be on the shoulders of the leader of the overall World Cup classification, the Russian Natalia Nepryaeva, who does not particularly like this competition format, and could suffer a lot from the skating portion of the race. The main opponents for Johaug will in all probability be the Swedish Frida Karlsson (2) and Ebba Andersson (4), medalists at Oberstdorf 2021, also given them in good shape. Scrolling through the start list with the number we find the German Katharina Hennig, who should not be in the match for the podium, despite the excellent performances in the first part of the season. The Americans Jessie Diggins (6) and Rosie Brennan (10) should always be taken into consideration, as well as the Finns Kerttu Niskanen (8) and Krista Parmakoski (7). Further back in the start list but possible surprises we find the Austrian Teresa Stadlober (11), medal of '' wood '' in Oberstdorf, the French Delphine Claudel (12), fresh from the podium on Cermis, and the Norwegian Helene Fossesholm (13 ). Number 18 for the Olympic title holder, the Swedish Charlotte Kalla. The blue quartet at the start will be 3/4 debut at the Games: except for Anna Comarella (she was 37th in Pyeonchang in the skiathlon), Cristina Pittin, Martina Di Centa and Caterina Ganz tomorrow will make their debut in an Olympic competition. Comarella will wear bib number 27, Pittin 45, Ganz 46 and Di Centa 47. Departure set at 15:45 local time (8:45 am Italian time), to see who will be the first cross-country skiing athlete to engrave her name in the Beijing 2022 roll of honor.
