The 37-year-old originally from Colorado, the first US woman to win a gold medal at the Nordic ski world championships and recent Olympic gold at Pyeongchang 2018 in the sprint team will therefore face a new challenge in the coming months.
"Although the disease has been diagnosed early and the prognosis is favorable - added Kikkan Randall on Twitter - my life will change in the coming months".
