Krogh burns Sundby in La Clusaz

First win of the season for Finn Haagen Krogh, who in La Clusaz has won the 16 km mass start with TL anticipating the sprint Martin Johnsrud Sundby and Alexander Legkov.

In spite of a cloth of a very different race, in which no one has really taken the lead before the 10 km, the final recalled closely that of the female test. A fight for the podium positions last lap was in fact a quartet, which in addition to the first three of the order of arrival also included Didrik Tønseth. The four have benefited during the sixth of eight laps to 2km scheduled, and it was the final tear before the slight slope down to the stadium to produce the final selection. If among women had been Heidi Weng to launch the decisive attack, among males has fallen to Sundby; unlike compatriot, the holder of the crystal ball but unable to fly away in lonely, dragging Krogh. The latter slowly filed down the few meters of Sundby advantage before the final straight, where he relied on his skills sprinter to complete the pass. Tønseth, after a rash lunge at the beginning of the final round, sold in the final, leaving the lower step of the podium at Legkov. A second squad reached the finish line 25 seconds after the winner. To adjust it was Sergey Ustiugov, previously last to lose the trail of the first four, able to bring forward by one tenth Matti Heikkinen. Alex Harvey, despite a fall in the early stages, finished seventh, ahead all'elvetico Toni Livers. Surprising ninth German Florian Notz, which was not included in the top ten for over two and a half years (seventh in the 15 km skating Lahti March 2014). Completing the top 10 Jens Burman, the better of the Swedes - now free of Marcus Hellner and Calle Halfvarsson - as already in the 30 km of Davos. Modesto Italy's booty, which had to settle for 25th place of Francesco De Fabiani. The Aosta Valley has proved still far from the levels of the best days, losing contact around half by a still very large group. Out of the points the other three blue: 38th Giorgio Di Centa, Claudio Muller 44th, 67th Fabio Clementi. In the overall standings of the World Cup Sundby keeps his head with 550 points, while seeing to approach slightly Krogh, who hoisted into second place with 412. Heikkinen salt in third, with 329, taking advantage of the zeros of a non-runner Emil Iversen (326) and absentee Halfvarsson (316). 16 KM TL MASS START MEN LA CLUSAZ - FINAL 1.
