Marcialonga n ° 48 has already begun: Sunday the highlight with the race valid for the Visma Ski Classics circuit

Today the appointments "Story" and "Young", tomorrow morning the great event with over 1500 cross-country skiers for the very classic of Fiemme and Fassa.

Everything is ready for the 48th edition of the Marcialonga, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its birth in 1971 on Sunday and will hit the slopes on the snows of the Fiemme and Fassa valleys after today's starter. A show that promises to be exciting, also thanks to the weather forecasts that probably give a light dusting of snow in the night, which could upset the plans of the skimen. There is great expectation for the approximately 1500 athletes who will line up on the grid tomorrow starting at 8 am. Among the big names there will be Andreas Nygaard and Britta Johansson Norgren, still struggling with the ailments of "La Diagonela", and they will miss also Aleksandr Legkov, Oeystein Pettersen, Chris Andre Jespersen and Ilya Chernousov, winner in Cavalese in 2018. The specialists of the Visma Ski Classics circuit will therefore be about 160, with the Russian Ermil Vokuev who will try to beat, for the second time in a few days, the Nordic army led by the Swedes Oskar Kardin and Emil Persson, over 70 km from Moena will lead to Cavalese. Hope to see an Italian in the top 20 with Brigadoi, Busin and Ferrari. In women, the Swedes Lina Korsgren and Ida Dahl will try to repeat last week's double, aiming to maintain the top of the Ski Classics standings. It will be the task of the Norwegian Emilie Fleten to try to put the spanner in the works for her Swedish cousins, while for the Italian colors there will be Sara Pellegrini who will try to get a good result, after the 20th of Dobbiaco-Cortina. At the Marcialonga Light instead, on the 43.5 km that will lead to the Stadio del Salto di Predazzo, eyes focused on the men on Lorenzo Cerutti (Team Robinson Trentino), Davide Facchini (FF.OO) and Paolo Fanton (Carabinieri), while among the women a sure protagonist will be Antonella Confortola who will look for poker in the "short" version of the Marcialonga. From now on there is great satisfaction on the part of the volunteers and of the whole organizational machine in ascertaining full compliance with the anti-Covid rules by the athletes. They all turned up spaced and with well-worn masks in the race office in Cavalese at the bib collection, a sign of great responsibility and awareness of the delicate moment we are going through. In the race pack, those who finished more than 10 editions found the “Honor Diploma” to testify the organisation's attachment to the historic “bison”. A sign of recognition was also due to the competitors of the combined: enrollment in the Running Coop and Marcialonga allowed the athletes to enter the "Superstar Club", the elite of those who completed all three races branded Marcialonga, even if in 2020 the Craft was not able to take place. On Saturday, however, after the morning success of the Marcialonga Story, it ended in the afternoon with the “Boys” categories to animate the Marcialonga Young. The young athletes of tomorrow challenged each other on the snow of the Cross Country Center in Lago di Tesero: among the girls, the athlete from Ziano Anastasia Morandini who preceded Elena Paoli from Perugia, while in third place a ' Giorgia Piazzi, another Fiemme from Castello, as well as a Nones daughter of art. Among the males, on the other hand, it was Davide Piccinini from Lavarone who crossed the finish line first in front of Fabio Mozzi from Brentonico and Thomas Maestri from Carisolo. Now the attention shifts to the real Marcialonga which will start on Sunday morning at 8 from Moena with the men's race, while at 8.05 the women will start. At 8.45 am, from Lago di Tesero, the Young, Aspiring and Junior categories of the Young will start and will reach Cavalese along the last stretch of the elite track. No public, but live TV from 7.45am on Sky Sport 1, Sky Sport Arena and, for those who receive the frequencies, also in the clear on RTTR.
